About English Local History. This website is for the convenience of bringing together a series of separate articles based on a familiar theme. They were written just for amusement and submitted for inclusion in the nostalgia section of the local newspaper. However, sometimes thorough editing meant that large amounts of text were lost, so the pieces here appear in full. Many are focused upon Stoke on Trent and the surrounding areas, although some also include the Staffordshire Moorlands and the neighbouring counties of Cheshire and Derbyshire. In addition there is also a collection of extended essays written while studying at Keele, or as talks given to the Wedgwood Museum or local historical societies.
